Cream Legbars

I like the humidity at about 45% on day 19, 50-55% on day 20, and 65-75% during the hatch.

I was sitting at 52% before the first chick hatch. While chicks were hatching and drying the humidity was up to 65%. At the end of the day I was back down to 52% with two still working, so I opened the vent put my tube in and added water. Oops! Forgot to close the vent when i was done.

Every hatch the humidity works a little different as the humidity outside the incubator varies where I hatch keep my incubator. Last time I was at 65% before the chicks started to hatch and then had to open the vents in the hatcher half way because condensate was forming inside the incubator when chicks we drying. My incubator and hatcher lack any sophisticated accessories for regulating the environment, so I monitor and make adjustments manually.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I don't have my Cream Legbars yet and I'm going nuts trying to find a local source. I hope we both have good luck finding some of these great birds!

I'm in Arizona, where are you at?
where do the cream legbar hens come from

That's exactly what I was thinking - eggs.

Seriously, though, Greenfire Farms in Florida imported them from England only a short time ago. People in the US either get their chicks from them or from somebody who got theirs from Greenfire. Eggs should be getting much easier to find as all those chicks grow up. There are people all across the country who have them now.

Where are you located trudie?

Steen,

It was good meeting you at the Edgewood,NM Poultry Swap on Saturday. I think that you are going to do really well with these birds.

It is a pleasure to see people like you get these birds. More people like you with this breed is exactly what the Cream Legbars in he USA need to get established and to grow.

I have cream legbars too. I got mine from Green fire farms. I ordered 2 females and a male but one of my females died early on after shipment. The other two are really beautiful but small. I have bantam easter egger roosters that are bigger. I am interested in swapping eggs for breeding when my Cream legbar starts laying - middle May so I am not expecting her to start laying until October November. Message me. I would love to trade eggs.
