I started looking for Cream Legbars the fall of 2011 before the first Ebay auctions were ever posted. The first auction I followed/saw on ebay ended the 14th of Novmeber and 6+ Cream Legbars Eggs went for $455 + $35 shipping.
Early on there were very few people with the Cream Legbars so some of the first breeders I networked with were people I found through Ebay auctions. Ebay is a place where you can find the very best and the very worst hatching eggs. This is true for any breed of chickens. Those who have something really special and want to share it can connect with people intrested in what they have through ebay. Those who don't know the difference between something really special and the culls they are raising are on their too so do your homework.
I show that around 60 different people have now posted auctions for Cream Legbar Hatching eggs on Ebay in the U.S..
I have asked several Cream Legbar auctioneers for more information on their auctions/flock. Rob in Idaho gave some good pointer on things to ask for. So far I have only put two (2) Ebays on my "black list".
Other questions that you could consider asking are if they participate in the NPIP, how long they have been breeding Cream Legbars, where they got thier starter stock, how many birds are in their flock, if they have a website, if the photos on their posting are of the birds your eggs will come from, what they cull for (it is a deal breaker for me if they can't answer that question), if they are shipping pullet eggs or hen eggs, if they have had any illness in their flock, what defects they are seeing in thier flock. etc.
I have never done this, but you can go to their feed back and see who else has bought from the seller and send them a message to see how their experience was with the sale (i.e. how was the shipping/packing, communications, egg color, egg size, hatchrate, etc.).
