Cream Legbars

My mum loves small furries, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats etc etc. but when we got our 2nd dog my dad made her promise not to get any more small furries. He likes animals but he doesn't love them like we do. So we just let our remaining small furries slowly die off, and now we have 3 dogs, so by my reckoning the ban has reached it's term. However, we have only acquired one hamster since the move. But there are plans for rats, so we'll see ;)

And I will look forward to seeing them. As I said I love projects and I assume you will be calling them Silver Crested Legbars not Cream Legbars since it sounds like they will be Silver! Being in Nicaragua you will have better access to Mapuche fowl--is that what you were planning on using for the blue egg crests in your genetic cocktail?

Tomorrow going to Tyler to pick up a trio of adults. They are around 1 year old. Thanks for the links. No, I haven't taken her off the nest. I probably will Monday. I've been stealing the eggs under her every afternoon. She is like me, stubborn!

or you could let her hatch chicks...she sounds pretty determined. Just put her away from the rest so she returns to the same nest after her breaks. ;O)

My husband grew up with a rooster in the neighbors backyard. I believe he either tried or wished he had tried taking some shots at it with his bee-bee gun. He and the rooster disagreed on what was a good time to wake up, especially as a teenager. He really is not a fan of the crowing (and that's putting it nicely). I was not to have any roosters when I first started and in fact never intended to BUT in buying some Ameraucanas I ended up with EEs and one was a boy. He thought it was the prettiest hen until it crowed. He's okay with my having roosters now and I could probably get away with quite a few but.... the number I'd like to keep and he could tolerate has a great disparity but he's pretty good with the hobby exchange value as he is a man the needs something new 'mechanically' every 2 years or so and has just sold off one of his toys and just an hour ago mentioned something 'new' that sparked his interest that came into the shop today....

Oh how I wish I had that much land. Im working with just under 2 acres. Its not a bad amount but oh what I could do if I had more. I think hubby would kill me lol we would be overrun with chickens.

Oh my word I know I am about to get in real trouble- we are set to close on our new house next Friday- going from 2/3 acre to NINE ACRES! Crazy chicken lady status, here I come!!!!!
