Cream Legbars

Hi, everyone. Please forgive me for this, but I am just learning about cream legbars and totally in love with them. I know they are autosexing, but I just don't know which one is which. Im sure this has been asked before, but I'd appreciate it if someone could post pics for me. And if there is anyone in the savannah area with some available....

Here is an example of male vs female. These are the 5 chicks from my last hatch. The pic includes 1 male(the lighter one with white head splotch) and 4 females(the chipmunk striped)

I am happy to post as I go but I doubt you would find it of interest since it will only be reviewed by my peers on BYC--and I don't think that counts

my unrefined data - 

my last hatch was ALL BOYS, and overall my hatches seem to be weighted towards boys.

Since that hatch, one CL hen went broody, and I collected the eggs of only 2 other CL hens, which are now in the incubator.
They all occupied the same space, with the same rooster, and all the general impacts (including a hawk attack - although a different hen suffered the actual attack).

I'd love to break the house odds, the weather odds, and anything else out there that says more boys...

btw - cute chicks dretd, thanks for posting pics =)  I'm always surprised to hear of aggressive CL roosters.

I have had terrible luck hatching pullets with my flock until this year. I have previously had 2 mixed breed roosters I was using for a project before I started breeding the Cream Legbars this spring. The first turned into a jerk--I hatched only boys from him. I kept one his sons out off my super-sweet Faverolles and he is a true gentleman. Totally trustworthy-still looking for a home for him. He sired 1 girl (the first one from my own flock) and 5 boys. Although a nice guy, he is huge. 8+ pounds and frisky. I think he was really stressful for the girls because he was just too big for them.

I have two 7 1/2 month old CL cockerels that are pastured free-range in my backyard. They are not as Randy as the previous roo and much lighter weight. The girls instantly took to them and seem less stressed. I hope my 5 baby girls are evidence that my string of bad luck is over.

The one roo that is stalking me isn't to the level of Aggressive Jerk yet. I am attributing it to youthful hubris for now. I have a rooster whispering experiment going to see if I can nip the stalking in the bud. I will let everyone know if it works!

so interesting - on the rooster behavior question.

I have one here that is as mean as sin...I don't know what the deal with him is. I had always noted that CL roosters are good with hens, both non-abusive and highly protective - but only of late have I heard of aggression toward humans (almost as if an abused animal--and I'm 99% sure this one wasn't ever abused - because I hatched him and the friends who had him aren't abusive people, and have no children to tease him) That being said, he was the only rooster on their place until about January - - I think that maybe CLs seeing other roosters on the property take offense.

His name was "Heart" because his white head dot a hatch was shaped like a heart - and now I'm changing his name to Coq au Vin.

When asked, I have told a lot of people CL roosters are gentle - but now I think I will have to qualify it and say --until they are 2-years old.

My CL rooster was sweet as a baby and into a teenager. Once he hit around 6months old I noticed he was becoming cautious of me. Not mean but eyeing me and walking in a manner that resembled dancing. He started trying to spur me at about 1year old. It seemed he didn't like the water and food buckets I carried with me. The spurring went on for about 3months and I was just done with watching my back so sadly he got processed 2 weekends ago. I have some fine looking CL boys growing out, one of which will take his place. I hope the one I choose will be sweet natured.

I agree with what ChicKat said about the roosters being very good to their hens and also very protective. I don't think my rooster was human aggressive per say, I think he for some reason saw me as a threat and he wanted to protect the hens. It really did seem to revolve around the feed and water buckets
