Cream Legbars

25 weeks old.
Hey nicalandia, do you think this pullet carries the cream gene? I know her hackles are too gold.
I just fell in love with your pullet.... I'll be over this afternoon to pick her up. Okay? Look at that s-n-o-w!!!

Your pullet is 3-weeks older than my (Amazing) Grace! I think yours has a bigger crest though.

I guess UP is too far to come over this afternoon after all. LOL.

25-weeks -- could be eggs any day now-- But maybe not with that snow. Mine is trying on nest boxes for size, and scarfing eggshells---but I think mine is too skinny to ever lay any eggs---or if she does they will be quail-sized eggs.

Hi Chickenlittel,

There may be some Cream Legbar owners near you in Ohio & Kentucky. Welcome to BYC and to the Cream Legbar threads.
I sent a pm.

The egg was small but they always are, aren't they when its their first?

On the left is one of the eggs we get from our other normal egg layers.

Its a good colour!

You are welcome any time. :)
(Though I'd advise waiting till warmer weather. It was -2 F (-19 C) this morning.)

Congratulations!! First eggs are so exciting. My pullet's first ones were around 1.25 oz,(about 35 grams if you measure grams) and at about that same age. (Nothing so great as consistency!)
Thanks for the picture.

Random question, I have a CL roo that started "crowing" when he was only 3 weeks old. His crow sounds more like the screech of a hawk right now, but he's still trying. Is this normal for CL roosters? I've never had any of my other breeds crow at such a young age, so I'm curious.

The pic is of him at 3 days old

This is him around 5 weeks

Seems like CLBs have a bit of a reputation for unusual crowing. A few examples: gurgling, gobbling like a turkey, broken toy sounds, and of course the occasional Roo who won't stop peeping

Don't worry, he's fine.
