Cream Legbars

It does take a little bit of time for the pullets to get to their normal size. :O)

I'm worried about the 3 I have. They've been laying a month or so, so they should be bigger - I think. Good to know that this isn't normal for CLs because so far mine are definitely on the small end of small. :(

Does anyone prefer to use a specific humidity when incubating CL eggs. I m sure most just use whatever humidity they prefer when incubating all there eggs. But I was curious if anyone has noticed getting a better hatch rate on their CL specifically using either a higher or lower humidity? I have tried a few different humidity levels but cant decide if one is best.

I'm trying a little lower humidity this time -- I think last time mine was too high -- but it was the condensation from difference in room temperature and incubator temperature that made it really wet inside the incubator last time.

I get my best results when I dry incubate and the house heater is on ( so humidity stays under 30), then I jack it up to 65/70 at lockdown. If the AC is on, I try to avoid this, I use a cheap dehumidifier right next to the incubator during incubation.

Thank You both. I usually try to do humidity around 26-30. On occasion I will let it range higher closer to 40-42. Im just trying to figure out if CL eggs do better with a certain humidity. My last few hatches last late summer early fall I dry incubated. So this time Im trying my CL eggs with a little higher humidity at about 40 ish. Fingers crossed.

I have moved to basically "dry" incubating all eggs in a brinsea cabinet. Maybe just adding water twice during incubation and then keeping it at 60 for the last few days.

This has resulted in a dramatic reduction (to almost zero) in failure to hatch of fully developed chicks.

I also usually only candle them twice - once at day 7 and once at day 16 ish. It seems that the less the eggs are handled the better they do.
