Definitely X2Hi Deb,
I would think that it could be really hard to tell a 1/2 CL chick --![]()
But it could be worth a try...

Definitely X2Hi Deb,

hmmm well I will be moving pens around soon so I will just move the EEs first and see if they are layingthat should solve the problem and I can see exactly what color they are laying if they are
I wish I could!!! I already have 14 babies in the brooder, and my husband is not a fan of the idea. Maybe she'll go broody again next season and I can put her to work!YAY Broodies!!! Let us know if you let her have eggs. I don't think it is too often we see CL go broody. Id love to hear how she does if you decide to let her.
There are a total of 15 CL chicks hatched now, 2 more zipping and at least 2 more pips that I can see. This hatch is moving slow, we are going into day 23. Im thinking both my incubators might be running a little too cool.
Only 9CL hatched from my original CL flock, and 6 from the Rees flock also the ones pipping and zipping are from the Rees flock. Once hatch is over I will try to get some group pics of each.
Do you think that light chick I posted is a recessive white or just a very pale male?
In that pen right now (its a grow out pen, they will be moving to their permanent pens soon where the breeds will be separated) I have 2 CL roosters, 4 CL hens, 2 EE hens and a couple marans that aren't laying yet. So chicks could be 100% CL or half EE and half CLI am confused, which is my normal state, would the chicks be EE, 1/2 EE 1/2 CL or 100% CL?
I know this is a long shot, and I would not guarantee this to work, but my EE lays eggs that are 1.8 ounces and the CL are 1.6.

I haven't hatched any yetDo you have pictures for us?
Not that we can tell for sure, but heck who does not like chick pictures?
I would think the pure Cl's would be fairy easy to tell. With the spot and line. You should be able to make an educated guess on most.
I haven't hatched any yetI was just asking for future reference
