Cream Legbars

I just posted this on another thread as I saw it first but wanted to say it again (and add kudos for CP!)

That is great Chickat! Both you and Chickenpickin have been very helpful to me and generous with your time. There are several CL enthusiasts that go above and beyond in my opinion.

I hate to admit it but, I have just recently figured out what ovations are and how they work (I am bit slow

) and have been really bad about giving them out. But whenever I receive one it makes me feel good so I need to share the love more!

If you haven't gotten your Cream Legbar Club Newsletter in your email - it's because your membership for 2015 isn't current.

If you are expecting one and haven't enrolled for 2015 -- then mosey over to the website (in my sig) - and enroll for 2015. Send me a PM and you will get the newsletter in email.

Help: I have a 13 week old crested creme legbar. We've had her since she was about 3 weeks. I am concerned because she hasn't gained any weight the past 3-4 weeks (we weigh them every Tuesday morning) My other breeds are growing 3-6 ounces a week. I know she is a smaller breed in general but is only 13 oz - not even a pound yet. She is active. I see her eating and drinking all the time. Should I be concerned?
the other breeds are BCM, EE, Buff Orp and a Barred Rock. I know they are all much larger breeds than the CCL.
Our feeder is a grandpas treadle feeder so it never really runs out of food. The other hogging it isn't the issue. (We have a brick on it since the CCL doesn't weight enough to operate it yet)
I see her eating often. My flock gets along very well. I am not OVERLY concerned. Will keep an eye on her. No growth in 3-4 weeks just makes me a little cautious. Any thoughts?

Just now I checked the weights of the 13 week olds on the Cream Legbar Club's weight tracking spreadsheet. Seems that the majority range from 2 1/4 to 3 3/4 pounds at that age. The lightest was 1.89 pounds. Is it possible that the larger chickens are preventing the little one from access to feed most of the time, or a lot of the time? Could you set up multiple feeding stations?

You are right your chicks is definitely lower in weight than the weights of the chicks of the Club members who recorded weights of their chicks as they grew.

It sounds like she is eating ok.

Have you treated her for parasites such as worms or mites?

Ivermectin would clear up most parasites.

Do you usually use cut down egg cartons or some such to prop up the eggs. My first ever hatch (not CLB) I did not and it seemed to work but when others have incubated my CLB eggs they have and I have been having poor results (albeit shipped eggs)
