Cream Legbars

I have a similar question on sexing the Legbars. In my hatch, some chicks are lighter color, others dark, some have a well defined white spot or splash, others just a tiny dot. I'll post some pictures and describe my questions.

The one at the right is silve-gold and has a splash. I think this is a male. Is the light color OK?

In the center there is a normal colored one, but has a speck of white in the center. Male?

Yes the males down color and even lightness look good. The well defined chipmunk pattern chicks are pullets even the one with the very small white head dot. Females can have head spots as well, they are just much smaller and tighter not splotchy.

Gonna get some better pics of my babies tomorrow the little one with spraddle leg seems to be getting better, but is not correcting itself as fast as I would like so fingers crossed it will fix itself and that little girl will be ok

Hi Dee06. It all depends on the male and if he is recessive white (c/c), dominant white (I/I) and whether he carries a copy or two of silver (S). So his breed is super important and the only way to know what you'll get will be to breed him to her, methinks.

In general, if you have a recessive white male they are black based so you will essentially get a black sexlink with black (with some gold in the hackles) girls and barred white and black males with red/chestnut bleeding trough on the shoulder feathers. They may also be solid black and just barred for the males. On the other hand, if you have a dominant white rooster, then the offspring will be white, again with some red colors bleeding through on the shoulders of the males.

Do you have a picture of the male you could show us to help figure out his breed?

Thank you for replying will see if I get a pic of him, I hatched him last year from some eggs that were given to me which is the reason why I don't know his breed but his a small bantam

Gosh Dee06 , he's pretty! I'm not great at bantams but I'm pretty sure he's an Old English Game Bantam (OEGB). If so, he may be dominant or recessive white and he might be hiding all sorts of genetics under the white including barring and dilution genes! I think you'll need to breed him and hatch lots of babies to see what he throws!
