Cream Legbars

I just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that I got my Legbars today! I'll post pics tomorrow.

I'm trying to sell a pair of Cream Legbars if anyone's interested. They are Greenfire Farms Jill Rees lines (aren't they all?). Bought directly from GFF in Jan. The hen has just started laying beautiful sky blue eggs. The cockbird is a little flighty but VERY gentle. I moved recently & have to downsize & the Legbars didn't make the list. This is my last pair. I am asking $50 for the pair & the buyer pays shipping which is around $100. PM me if interested & i can send pics. Thank in advance! :)

Sorry you are leaving Legbars behind. You may want to put your listing in the buy-sell-trade pages.

Here are my long awaited Legbars.

My first 5 Tinys are 2 weeks old. I have 4 pullets and one cockerel.

Here are my other Teenies. They are 2 days old. I have 1 cockerel and 5 pullets, unless the lighter colored one is a cockerel. She kinda has a spot on her head, and her lines are as defined as the other ones. You can see her in the third pic. Her lines are blurry, but no defined white spot.

The little cockerel is really dark. Hardly any lines at all on him. These will be the brighter variety of Legbars. The grandparents came directly from Greenfire. The parents are 2 yrs old, so these are from the first few lines that Greenfire had.

Your lighter pullet looks a lot like my Paula looked when she was wee...

Egg Color question
My other CCL's have beautiful blue eggs. My new batch - from GFF in March of this year, JillR lines- are a greenish/olive color. Granted, they just started laying within the past two weeks and they are still small, but I am not so sure this is a good thing. What is your experience with egg color in CCL? What are your thoughts on the green/olive color? At the moment, I am quite disappointed as I wanted all the eggs to match. Thanks!

Hi ~ I also got CL from GFF in March. They recently started laying. I posted pic's on here of their first egg and compared to my Isbar egg, too.

So, I would say mine were more blue, but the only thing I have to compare with are the Isbars. Can you post a pic? Thx.
Still learnin' here.................

Hi VTcreamLegbars,

Welcome to the thread! -- People who have both non-Rees and Rees CLs have noticed that the Rees will produce greener eggs. Chicken Pickin' has a photo of an egg carton with non-Rees and Rees eggs side-by-side. So getting greener eggs from the Rees line is to be expected. A few years ago, I email-interviewed Jill Rees for the Cream Legbar Club's newsletter, and she told me that over there in the UK they aren't as focused on the color of eggs as we are. If you are a CL Club member the newsletter is in the archives -- if you aren't PM me and I will send you a copy. ETA - the archives are in the Clubhouse under publications. ;o)

your post is the first I have heard of an olive hue to the Rees eggs. Glad that your previous CLs are giving you the blue that you are looking for - but a question for you, isn't there some variations in the shades of blue of your CLs?

Many folks like some variation in the egg color from their flock so that know who's laying. I prefer the blue -- because just like cressrb, my Isbars are in charge of giving the green eggs. I really appreciate that they lay different shades of green - and I know the instant I pick the egg up who produced it.

Thank you. Great pictures and great idea to use the leaf of lettuce. :) I will do the same and send more pictures. I am thinking your CLB's are bluer than my eggs.
But, I will have another look.
