I couldn't get the pictures to come up, I was disappointed! If I remember correctly wasn't it between the B & C line the Gold started showing up? I actually like the picture of the B line rooster.

Here's a link:The pictures hate my phone too. I'm missing the GFF case study article. Maybe I'm blind. I was off by a bird. So 11 birds. I'm glad I wasn't the only one that had to read the GFF letter about their imports maybe more than once. You do have to admit that is a small gene pool. Not that we have a leg to stand on to really change that. Beggars can't be choosers, at least within reason at this point. I hope they consider another import, but will work with what I can get.
What if we didn't have the JR lines? That was my point the other day.The pictures hate my phone too. I'm missing the GFF case study article. Maybe I'm blind. I was off by a bird. So 11 birds. I'm quite certain that someone, GFF or someone else, will do another import, it's just too lucrative. The more popular Legbars get here the more that breeders will want a new line to play with. We all know how expensive the JR line was when it first was offered. Even importing more of that same line would make a lot of moiney for someone.
GFF is selling a new line of imported BCM's for high prices and they are not nearly as "new and rare" as Legbars (still) are, so a new line of Legbars (or Bielefelders, for that matter), would make their money back many times over. I bet they are looking for that next import even now.
The article History of CL in US reads they will continue to import from JR. Of course..... nothing is written in stone. You would think more breeders would want their lines to be the beginning of a breed in another country.... but it sounds like it is difficult to find English breeders willing to cooperate. Jill Rees and Curtis Hale lines are currently the history of CLs in the US. I can't wait to see the lines this group will develop. We are here at ground zero. A limited gene pool, lots of talent and knowledge making history and ensuring a future for CLs.
I get Practical Poultry a very good British chicken magazine. And it seems to me, I may be wrong, that they treat Legbars like we treat RIR. Everyone has 1 or has heard of them what's the big deal. Only 11? Sounds odd doesn't it.
