Cream Legbars

What's everybody doing with their non crested Cream Legbars? One of my babies is perfectly cream in the hackles, but at 7 weeks has no sign of a crest while her sister has a toupe lol. I'll give her some more time to grow, but I was just curious as to what everyone else was doing.

Hi KPenley. I don't have any Cream legbars (yet) but have been wanting the breed since before GFF imported the first ones over. I think the cream color is much harder to achieve than the crest which is really just a matter of breeding the hen back to a crested boy. If it were me I would keep a correctly colored hen over a ginger hen with a crest. But this just me. I am sure you will have many takers if you want to let someone else improve their flock

Don't you just hate it when you know there was a post that you want to reference and you cannot find it in all these threads?

Somewhere GaryDean26 and others had listed the egg colors they were getting, and it wasn't that long ago. Right now I'm unable to locate it.....

One thing for future reference, those who are members of the Cream Legbar Club, there is a category on "eggs"...and a topic specific to colors. As your time permits, if you would just go to the "Club House" and post your egg color references in that topic (under eggs) it will be a one-stop-shop to find color references. Thanks mucho.

I was looking for my first Cream Legbar Egg color, and on oac it is a bit lighter than oac179, You will notice I didn't have chart beside computer when several of y'all referenced egg colors. I think I will attach it to the computer in future. lol.

Here are the two pullets just hatched out. Notice the one on the right does have a tiny yellow streak on her head.




The larger has legs that I would call smutty


- is this something that will grow out? All the other chicks I have hatched have had bright yellow legs (as the other pullet chick does).


I guess you tend to look very closely at any potential flaws when you have fewer chicks

My not-yet-laying CL pullets have crests that range from sparse to lush, black to gold.
Has anyone seen a correlation to eggshell color? Preferably to blue eggshells...
