Thank you --  Yes, I lost Grace and 4-chicks to a raccoon attack.  The predator(s) lifted the floor of the external nesting box part of the broody coop and gained access.  Devistating. 

I am so sorry. I lost a large part of my flock a few years ago to raccoons. They can be so awful to chickens.

I finally broke down and ordered a chart. Some of my pullet eggs are still sitting on the counter, so I will measure them and then again later when the hens have been laying for a while.

I have one lone egg pipped in the incubator out of 6 shipped. Wish I had a broody!

What is this chart of which you speak? I want one.

Mine won't start laying til September but a girl can prepare.

Wait. What? Grace is dead?! I know I'm mostly a lurker but I loved the pictures and stories of her and the babies. She will be missed. I'm so, so sorry!

Newest little guy, the only one of 6 eggs. Hope he grow up beautiful, I am not thrilled with any of the other boys I have.
