Cream Legbars

I always take a double look when people talk about putting their birds outside at 3 weeks of age in April - because it is still WINTER here!!  We are now just starting to get highs into the 60's on nice days.

Yup, wasn't it just last week it snowed here? Makes me wish for a magic broody timer -- no muss, no fuss, no heat lamp, even in winter.

My name is Shane, My wife and I are the owners of Holland Homestead. We are going to be offering Cream Legbar's, Ameracana's, and Moran chicks as well as hatching eggs next sprint 2014. Hi Shane, and welcome!

You might want to give your phone number in PM's and not on a public forum, as there are people who troll these sites for such personal information. You can edit your post using the little pencil in the lower left corner.

I just hatched my first CL chicks. I had 9 eggs to start and by day ten 3 were not good. So of the 6 left 4 hatched. I think they are all female but one does not have a well defined stripe on the back and reddish mixed in with the brown on her head. I am wondering if females have that reddish color. I have wanted this breed for some time now. I am just thrilled the eggs hatched. I am glad everyone posts photos so we have others to compare to. Thanks.

Congratulations on your hatch! There are some variations in chicks coloring but the autosexing should work like this: girls have dark eyeliner and clear chipmunk stripes running from head to tail, boys should have muted coloring and a white or yellow dot on their head. Sometimes the girls have a small white dot on their head but their stripes are nice and dark. Have you taken any pics yet? We can help!
