Cream Legbars

Clean, how old are they?

I do have one named hen right now, a 2 year old speckled Sussex, but since she has 3 names - Sister, Freckles or Blackie depending on who you're talking to - I think the chicken gods have overlooked her.

Sometimes a molt isn't very obvious. In addition, when the heat hit I noticed a significant decrease in egg production. I have one hen doing poorly right now and off lay, so I"m down to 4 laying hens and I have gotten 6 eggs in the last 3 days. It has been in the upper 90s and very humid here.

As long as they are eating and drinking well, you might give some extra protein to encourage egg production and it would also help them with feather growth if they are finishing up a molt. Mealworms, cat food, tuna fish, etc. are all good sources of protein.

No one is molting we had some pretty hot days when i first got them but they have pans of water they would stand in and i keep fans in the coop(they have half of my garage and a 20x20 run its also been much cooler the last few weeks..
cleansquared,

don't think I saw your original post---but, my Cream Legbar has totally shut down her laying in this heat. Last year--the original didn't stop in the heat --but this year's girl hasn't made an egg in a week (she was just relocated though--and the temps here are horrendous)

I don't think Cream Legbars are good in the heat!

My daughter frequently names mine. We went through a "Twilight" period. Now they are all getting Anime names. Some of them get other names from me based on personality traits. My best looking roo from Lorinda is named Daidara, who is a warrior character. He is showing some aggressive signs darn it!
i let my son name my buck. He named it spike. well spike has horns and started to spike everyone. I promptly switched his name to Mr sweet stuff. and he is allot sweeter now.

In comparison our weather has been cool (low 90s) and very humid and our Cream Legbars are laying every day still. They are the only girls who haven't been heat affected.

One of my two 4 week old CL males has a crooked comb - is this something that will grow out okay or should I not keep him for breeding? I have an older male as well.
