Cream Legbars

I'm getting some shipped eggs from Ebay. I think they will be here on Monday. Anyone have some great hints for incubating shipped cream legbar eggs? I guess a few people in my area have not had the best hatching results.
I've had some good experience with letting the eggs sit without turning for 5-7 days before turning on the turner. It allows them to heal a bit from shipping. Also, don't the the humidity get too high! My best hatch didn't go over 35-40% during lockdown (except when a chick was hatching) and 25% during the first 17 days.

@ Rinda, Cider took last week off from laying for who knows what reason? But now her comb is bright red again and her legs have perked up as well. Maybe her body just needed a small rest!

Got a shipment of happiness today - ordered some GFF chicks, 3 - 2013 line cockerels and 3 Swedish Flower Hens to round out the group - and THIS is what arrived!

Now I have to figure out how to fit all 14 under one hen - who is currently sitting on 6 SFH eggs due any day.

I am not familiar with colors of SFHs, let alone chick down colors, apart from them being very variable. Not sure if she sent me 3 or 4 CL's, as one of these things is not quite like the others -

I see 4 cream legbar cockerels. They must have been thrilled to send these boys to you and sent an extra.

My chicks are about 4 weeks old now. Of the Female cream legbar chicks, 3 are looking cream and one is looking gold. I ordered 3 pair and they sent an extra female, of course she is gold. Nice personality though, 2 of my boys look just like yours and one was light. It will be fun to see how they grow out. Good luck with getting your hen to take all of them in. Hopefully she cant count!

Dagnabit..... Missing a Cream Legbar hen on lockdown today..... GRRRR. I've been gone ALL. DAY. LONG. selling honey at the county fair so I have no idea what happened but I can't see hide nor hair of her (or would that be feather?) out there with a flashlight at 10 PM. My best guess is that the local hawks finally found me.

Luckily it wasn't Green Band Girl or Curtis' pullet- who is almost at POL- but it was a good cream hen.

I still have two more days of working the fair and I can't do anything but hope for the best- and take another look in the morning.

Looks like 4 beautiful boys to me too muttsfan! Do you have brooder space available if the temps drop? I've noticed that Legbars like cooler temps earlier than some breeds, so it's probably just this week and next that you need to be watchful of keeping them warm.

Congrats on your cream girls Flaming Chicken!

Well, broody Basque mama, while fine with eggs, is not interested in little squeaky things. So into a brooder they go, and she gets a leg band and a new home.

Banded my four pullets that are around 5 weeks old, the dark one is still noticeably dark compared to the other three.

Steen all of your birds are beautiful! I might be interested in getting some Jaers eggs in the spring if you have any available!
