Cream Legbars

Does anybody know if squirrels would eat chicken eggs? For the last two weeks the only days I have gotten any eggs are my days off. I am assuming because I can go to the chicken house more often. Today I see 2 squirrels going in the chicken house........

Sounds like you really loved her....and you honored her by this as well....sometimes a hen will worm their way into your heart.....

Hi I have a genetics question... I have a columbine hybrid ( cream legbar x aruncana) and she mated with a pure breed cherry marran cock .. What kind of chicks should I be expecting ?
Welcome to the CL threads...and hopefully you can post some pictures of your birds in the CL hybrid thread that Haplessrunner mentioned. In the USA we don't have the same hybrids and breeds that y'all have in the UK. Would love to see a picture of your Columbine over there...I bet it is a pretty bird. Although I have heard of them, I don't recall seeing one.

Keep us posted on what your results are. Good luck.

green, blue, pink, white, black, orange, brown

same order but reversed
Good morning Rinda!

I have 2 questions for you:
1) How do you get your wee chicks to stay so orderly?
Mine are like little roadrunners ( I have a hard enough time getting one to sit for a photo) and yours are so obedient--please share your secret!
2) Do you by any chance weigh your chicks?
I weigh them daily for the first week then every few days and chart their growth. I am wondering if your humongous one as from a bigger egg, or hatched out bigger to start, or is just a piglet and growing faster? Will for sure be interesting to see if this is an indication of final weight (bigger/faster growing chicks=bigger adults) as this could help determine which chicks to cull when they are little if you are looking for size and dont want to grow out large hatches.
