Cream Legbars

Quote:
the males look similar, the females lack salmon breast, the chicks will look different at hatch, both males and females will show headspot on a solid colored background, the males will look grey while females either all black or brown with a headspot, no chipmunk stripes

so looking in the Marans pen today I am still guessing on the last two Cream Legbar females I put in there. Now with some bright sunshine they appear creamer than they did last weekend. If I can get another pen cleared maybe I'll dump them in there with one of the boys and see what pops up. Type wise they are really nice but they have me guessing still...... they do carry cream that's for sure but just not sure they are double as they just don't look as clean in the hackle...... See Curtis, still a newbie here with so much to learn. This is the problem I have with photos...they can not always give a true idea of color. Here she is

I think she is quite lovely. So your only concern with her is the possibility that she may not be double for cream? Do you have a pic of her side by side with one of your top pick hens in your flock for comparison?

I think the Hen in question is CREAM, her body tone is of a slate shade not brown as you would expect gold hens.. her hackles are not rich as gold birds(cream is gold too but diluted so you get my point)

My pens are disgusting at best right now. Yesterday I removed a 3 foot pile of snow on one side that was just melting into it. The birds feet were and still are sinking into the mud out there but it should fix itself soon. I was lazy this year and just shoveled the snow through the pen fence so the melt had no where else to go. I usually go back and shovel out the path to the other pens but this year I just did not. I just finished lugging an antique military or postal desk up to my art studio and am DONE for the day. Any other photos will wait until next week and to be honest the difference is so subtle I'm not sure it will show in a photo. I think I'm just being too paranoid about it since I hope to sell eggs this year and I have not done that a lot and am worried about disappointing anyone who gets the eggs or chicks or birds. If I were to ship anything live KPenley goes first as she's been a wonderful voice in my head and super supportive to me in ways I don't think she knows. I think I know what I'm doing fpr the most part and feel good about my flock and my progress but I'm new to all of this and not a genetics person and still know so little that I have to admit I get insecure at times and have doubts and these 2 are evidence of that.

I wish I knew more at times.

Sold a woman eggs today, and even though this is the pic I posted on the ad...

She seemed disappointed with the color, saying it's about the same as her EEs. Not really anything to say to that, you're not buying EEs, you're buying Cream Legbars and this is the color of their eggs.
The eggs are selling really well though. Hopefully the chicks do too. How many days do you all collect eggs for? We're doing ten, but I see a lot of people say only 5. Not sure which is correct.
