Cream Legbars

Sold a woman eggs today, and even though this is the pic I posted on the ad...

She seemed disappointed with the color, saying it's about the same as her EEs. Not really anything to say to that, you're not buying EEs, you're buying Cream Legbars and this is the color of their eggs.
The eggs are selling really well though. Hopefully the chicks do too. How many days do you all collect eggs for? We're doing ten, but I see a lot of people say only 5. Not sure which is correct.

Some people...

I'm a little confused by your question.... do you mean how many days worth of eggs do you collect before you sell them? Eggs will hatch just as well up to 10 days old BUT I would not ship 10 day old eggs, that's just wrong with the extra beating they get in shipping. I will sell local eggs up to 10 days old for hatching but try to mail eggs less than 5 days old.

Oh, oops...I meant how long to collect eggs for my own hatch. The eggs I sold today were less then three days old, I want them to have as good a hatch as possible.

Some people just are never satisfied.

We incubate every week, so every seven days. In fall we only incubate every ten days to make it less work intensive while the birds are molting, because there are fewer eggs.

Oh I got it... up to 10 days there will be no difference. Sometimes I will push it to 14 days and still have very good hatches. Eggs can hatch up to a month old but your hatch rate will be much lower.

Thank you both!
Our first set we only collected for seven days, because the girls were laying so few. Now we're getting 4-5 a day from five girls. We also found two blue egg hiding spots. Took care to block the one area, which is used while they free range, and the other is in the barn and easily checked every day. These Cream girls are crafty little things. My favorite one has the worst coloring, but follows us all the time, sweet as can be.
One more week till our eggs hatch. Super exciting!

Mornin! Thought I'd share some new pics. First is the roo I chose to keep outa my last 3 hatches. He's 20 weeks (his sister, one of only 2 girls I kept from that hatch layed her 1st egg yesterday!). He's bigger and longer bodied than his dad. Tail angle a bit better, too. Comb doesn't hv the prettiest form/spikes, but it's straight. Really good barring (hard to see on this pic tho), but is he too charcoal?? I really like his cream coloring, tho, and he has a real (albeit, little) crest. Do y'all hv any more comments? Is my critique correct?

I kicked his dad out w/ my RIR's (the RIR roo went in the pot cuz he was MEAN!), so he's enjoying free ranging and a new harem. The other pics are of the new coop I just finished. As close as I could get w/ Behr paint to Legbar Blue! Naturally, that's the CLB pen. I'm replacing my RIR's w/ Black and Blue Copper Marans as soon as they're at POL (I hv an identical coop in beige).

And it's finally Spring here, yippee! I saw a cute quote on FB: "I'm so excited that Spring is here, I peed my plants"!! Lol!

My first CL chicks from my Trio have been hatching today. So far 3 out of 6 have hatch and 2 pips. So far 1cockerel 2pullets. They are still in the incubator so I will definitely get better pics later. But I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on their down color Male vs Female.

My 1 male so far seems very blonde.
