Cream Legbars

They look very different to Cream legbar chicks in Britain, ones we have's markings are much lighter with more distinct colour differences. But yours are sooo cute, I want some!

Could you post some of your chick pics I would like to see the color differences. Mine resembled the ones Redbanks posted below.

I usually would but all the pics of my chicks were destroyed when my computer died :( when I next have chicks I'll post, but I don't expect to hatch until the spring now, but mine usually look a bit like Redbanks's, however they are often even more clearly marked, with very definitive stripes on females, and still a clear, but paler, version on the boys. :D

That would be great. It would be interesting to see what a more distinct pattern looks like on pale boys, and then how they feather in.

@rossfam06 I have hatched boys that look like your 2nd pic, but the first is unusual in my experience; maybe it's just the angle? Please post pics for comparison as they mature.

Here's 3 colors of chick down, 2 pullets, one cockerel (similar to @rossfam06 pic #2).

L - feathered in cream
Middle - feathered in gold
R - feathered in gold

Lightest examples of chick down, male and female, both feathered in cream with no red/chestnut.

This follows for me too! I am looking for the pictures I took when I first got them. I had three shades in the chicks, light, medium and dark. My chicks with the color above (picture with the two chicks) turned out so far to be the most grey/cream. They are only about five weeks old right now. My chicks that were that color were finer looking all around, The others looked like fat little quail. At first I had them separated by shade. I was going to watch to see how the progressed. Good intentions! Then I read chick color had no bearing on adult feathering. I didn't band them and didn't follow them but I can still pick out those light chicks, they seem to be the most correct.

I just looked at my early pics.My 2 that are showing the proper grey/cream were also light chicks. Two of my gold were dark chicks, with the remaining gold chick having a medium color. Chick down may not represent final color but I think it may be helpful in making breeding decisions.

Working with your own line will help to identify typical traits and clues in your breeding stock.

The bottom chick was one of the light ones.
