Cream Legbars

funny story: two new chicks arrived at the post office for me today, a 2-week-old cream legbar, and a 3-week-old isbar (there were two others in the box, but sadly they didn't survive the journey) -- both seemed weak but ok this morning, but i had to go off to work & couldn't stay home to keep an eye on them. so i put them in a large washbin with the heat lamp on them, & placed them next to my cardboard-box-brooder that holds my four-week-old chicks -- including my original CL (i'll now have two, hooray!)

so i came running home after work as fast as i could, and so pleased, the chicks are fine -- and in fact, the CL chick is sitting up on the edge of the washbasin, looking as perky as can be at having figured out how to get out of the mini-brooder. and THEN i look up at the edge of the big brooder, which is about 3 feet off the ground -- and there is the 4-week-old CL, who has managed to fly up that high & found a nice quiet perch away from her rambunctious siblings.

go CLs! i've decided to name the older one Amelia, after A. Earhart, for her impressive flying abilities -- working on a name for the new one, but will wait another day or two to make sure they continue to settle in to their new home.

i'll be sure to take some photos soon, but they're all asleep right now...
