I have a question. I have a chick I hatched out of my experimental chicks that has partially feathered legs, and non of the chickens I used have feathered legs. Is it just a mutation, or something hidden within one of the parents genetics?

I will get a better picture tomorrow. This chick is a mix of: Buff Orpington/Barred Rock × Buff Orpington Australorp. Same one in the other pics in the update.

I don't see feathered legs in that pic.

Shank Feathering is a polygenic trait, and while there are about two documented genes for it, I am sure there are a few other recessive ones never mentioned but exist in fully feathered shanks
