Creating my coop

Can you post a picture of the inside the coop? Coop looks to small to me. I have 6 chickens that we purchased in March. 4 RSL and 2 white leghorn. The 4 RSL(red sex link) are pretty big chickens. We have had to add on to their roost a few times to make more room as they have grown. We use a 2 x 4 sideways so they roost on the flat side. They love this. Gives them a little room to move around a little. Your chickens might be sleeping in the nesting boxes because they don't have enough room for all of them to roost. Just a thought. Love your run!! Wish mine was that big. Good luck.

notice they have the two perches for them to sit on.

i blocked the nesting box.

just also gave away my rooster so i have 5 chickens now.

ever since the rooster went away the hens seem much more content, before they were on edge i think.

We still cant see the inside well. It looks kind of tiny and if Im looking at it correct I feel like Im seeing very small dimensions for 5 chickens Each chicken needs 3-4 sgft of indoor space. And also are the roosts I see pretty much at floor level? If so then that may explain why they are in the nest boxes. They like to be up high and the roosts are supposed to be placed higher than the nest boxes.

i went in there with a flash light at night and saw that they had more than enough room the way that they were sleeping. in fact i would suggest that they could fit in 3 more with the way that they were stuck together. one entire side of the coop was empty.

but my plan is to build a new coop inside my area for march and acclimate a new flock in that other coop
