Creating the MF Pattern

I wish someone here would start making Standard MF Cochins.....

I'm quite sure, thanks. As I mentioned above, I've produced more than 30 chicks out of these parents now. Every single one of em has had nice yellow down.

ETA -- someone has suggested to me in PM that my flock might be heterozygous for Columbian. Those males who miss out on the Columbian gene would therefore end up "black patterned gold wheaten pied/mottled", as Henk's chicken calculator puts it. The hens that miss the Columbian gene would not have the excessive black, because as wheaten females they naturally wouldn't have all that black anyway. It's an interesting thought.

Amazondoc,

They may have an extra melanizer too much also. Agree with the het columbian.

Krys,

I wouldn't worry about the extra's of full buff but you might have to make sure you don't have both Co and Db in your mille fleurs. And of course keep an eye on those black restrictors.

Thanks Henk,
I've been doing, or trying to do, blue mille fleur in Orps. One problem I seem to have is that in some cases the white part of the feather is so little it is almost non existent. Do you think that would be caused by Co & Db together?

No, I was worrying more about the black band shrinking.
But I don't "know" of course.
I see the minimal white tip also in my black banded millefleurs while the dun millefleurs immediately show more white tip.
It gets better with age also.
