Creative Coop Names

Anne, At this minute our coop looks simular to yours. I too used some of the same coops as inspiration. While I just wanted to let things flow and develope, my husband needs a concrete plan to work most productively so we are at a stand still (chicks dont arrive until July). I have no idea what it will look like in the end.

We have been trying to get a good name for our coop too with no luck until just now. Our coop is named "The True Grit Inn". As soon as we found out we had a rooster we named him Mr. Cogburn (as in Rooster Cogburn from the movie True Grit). Mr. Cogburn was named before the coop was even started to be built and that's how I just came up with the coop name. Any John Wayne fan will see the humor.

We haven't quite settle on a name yet but our options include:

"Holly's Hen House" - my name although I was recently informed that hen house's may have different meanings in certain areas,
"3H" - 4-H is quite popular around here and this is similar to the above, or
"HopOff Co-Op" or "HopOff Egg Co-Op" - combination of my last name and my husband's last name, also our coop is kind of a co-op as our neighbors help us in exchange for eggs.

HUGE John Wayne fan here and jealous that you have a rooster! I said if we got one that's what we'd name him (Cogburn), but hubby says no roosters. Since these are my first chicks, I can live with that...for now

Maybe if I get one I'll name him "Marshall" so I don't steal your roo's name

Post a picture! We needed a builder friend to help - all of it has been far more complicated than I imagined. And it has taken longer. But I do think we will still come in cheaper than the prefab ones. Good luck with your coop! Our chicks are almost 5 weeks old and ready to move out!
