Credit card debt?

I have one debit card/Mastercard and one Visa credit card. The credit card is empty/paid off, and I tend to buy most things with the debit card - that way I'm basically paying cash. I've never had multiple cards, that is a recipe for disaster.

Yes we have credit cards plural

The cards are not the problem if you use the resource well.

I just paid of my car (yes I said car) on one. The check loan was at the lowest interest rate I could get on any money. As long as you fully understood the terms (do not use the card if you take out one of these loans the rate shoots up if you do) It was a cheap loan for a car. We could have taken years to pay it off, but we paid it off in one year.

That was the only credit card debt we had so we are currently debt free. However, I am looking at another car. Last car went to DH, my car is on its last legs it is 14 years old and has 187,000 miles on it. It doesn't owe me a dime!

I would think that most people have credit cards and have debt of some kind on them. Having credit cards and using them wisely will help your credit score. You need to be mindful of what you buy with them, the interests rates you pay, etc. or they can hurt you.

I have several credit cards and I have a balance on 2 of my cards but they are at 0% interest and will be paid off well in advance of that deal ending.

I don't have a credit card or any debt.

I also don't have a good credit score because I don't buy anything unless I can pay for it.

It's really sad, that this country looks at me as a credit risk, yet I retired at age 48....something is wrong with the system in my eyes.

This idea that we HAVE to be in debt is a myth and I agree the system is wrong.
