I used to employ several (not all at once) mentally challenged people. They were the best employees, and some of the nicest people you could have around. Not an evil bone/thought in them. I had customers complain to me about "creepy" behavior regularly. Almost ALL of them were just afraid of "special" people. And they are. SPECIAL people. Most people are afraid to interact with them for whatever reason. That was in a small town in southeast Washington State. I go back to visit family every couple of years. When they learn I'm there we have a wonderful reunion. They're still the same SPECIAL people and remember who is and who isn't nice to them. The only one I saw get into any trouble was the 56year old with the mind of an 8 year old who the local A**H**ES thought was cute drunk. He was strong as an ox and hurt someone while drunk. The A**H**ES that got him drunk, again, were never even talked to by the police. The police thought it was funny too to take drunk Eddy home again.
That being said, I now work at a prison. There ARE CREEPY PEOPLE THERE!!!!! The most intelligent ones are the worst. They are always trying to figure out a way to scam/hurt someone. But I have met some "special" people there too. They have NO business in an adult prison when they have the mind of a child.
