Yeah, I've wanted to visit the Body Farm. I think it is a wonderful idea and I know it has helped with forensic sciences. If I had it to do over, I'd go into Forensics.

Thats what I'm heading into - getting my bachelors in criminal justice, and supplimenting a good bit of courses that are either forensics or psychology in nature.

I haven't decided exactly which I'm going into yet - forensics side of it, or the psychological side of it (criminal psychologist or profiler)

Wow! Thanks everyone for the relpies. It is interesting to learn how other people feel about this and how you came to the conclusions you did.

Twisted I can't believe I didn't think to add that as an option. My Uncle died last year and donated his body to a college, I believe it was. He had never mentioned this to anyone but it was in his will.

Sounds exciting! I wish I was 30 years younger, I would do the same. I did get my paralegal degree, which was fun. I was one of the few who actually liked doing the legal research. Learn a lot and have some fun along the way. You will need "gallows humor" though. I found that out with the pet crematory. I've even ended up at the Coroner's Office because of a suicide who took her dog with her. They had to make sure the bullets matched etc......and they don't "do" dogs. Sigh.
Have also learned alot when training my SAR dog. Using the cadaver scent is not the most fun thing to do.

My mother announced a few months ago that she has donated her body to the Body Farm. I am not impressed. I get that its her body yadda yadda. But how do I explain to my kids when the time comes?
Like this? Well, Nana's body is either in the trunk of a car or rotting in a pond tied to a brick or maybe she is buried in a landfill or just propped up against a tree on the Body Farm.

Puhleeeze.

Maybe I can reassure them with...In a few months when they are done mutilating it and watching it rot, and they have cleaned it, we can go visit her skeleton in a cardboard box in the bone vault.

Can you tell I am in need of therapy over this?

If you "visit " the body farm wouldn't you actually be "majoring" in entomology?

As long as I go for a visit, not an extended stay!

I want to be cremated. I am not sure what I want done with my ashes though. Lol, ok I know this is a weird reason, but I want to be cremated so I don't have to worry about someone desecrating my remains. I know of people who dig up remains and sell their body parts to be used in black magic and voodoo, and then you have the satanist that like to display remains... Yup I'm a nut, but I want to make sure my remains, remain at peace and are not disturbed.
