Hi! Brand new here, first flock and I of course already have questions.
Midge, my crested cream legbar was hatched on March 12. She is a week younger than the other chicks I brought home with her a couple weeks back.

Last week I brought home a couple more chicks (silver laced and a RIR) that were hatched the week prior. This is already sounding like a logic problem puzzle...
My new RIR is already the same size as Midge and she's two weeks younger. Is this normal for the breed or something?

It's possible that Midge is a bantam or she may just be exhibiting 'failure to thrive'.. Sadly it happens sometimes, and the prognosis for survival in such chicks is not good. Good luck with her. Make sure that the others are allowing her to eat and drink adequately.
She is eating like crazy! Lil piglet. She has some feathers coming in on her wings so far. I'll have to look into that. The feed store didn't have them labeled as bantams but I hope that's all it is. Thanks for the rapid response

I have 4 week old Cream Legbars and 55 Flowery Hens (same hatchday) and the Cream Legbars are noticeably smaller.

Happy to hear she’s eating well

I think they’re just smaller and there’s nothing to worry about.

I will try to take some pics of them side by side if you’d like; it might ease your mind.

Congratulations on the new additions! :celebrate

These may not do the size difference justice as the 55 Flowery Hen is stretching a bit but there is a big difference in person. Hope this is helpful!
Hatched March 1st

I was going to ask the same. I have a three week old Cream Legbar and two Salmon Favorelles the same age. The little Legbar is about half their size, seems to eat like crazy, but she has now stopped walking. Taking her to the vet in the morning, I hope. Anyway, she’s tiny and doesn’t seem to be changing and has slowed down over the past 5 days. (I have her separated now and on NutriDrench.). She has beautiful feathered wings, but she is teeny tiny.)

It is concerning that she’s not walking, please let us know what the vet says (if you are able to take her)!
Best wishes ♥️

I also have a CCL chick, about 7 weeks old now, that I got with a mixed flock of chicks, all of them the same age. She has been significantly smaller than all of the other chicks pretty much from the start and she has feathered out WAY slower than the others, but she eats as much as everyone else and is one of the most active chicks in the group. I was a little worried about her at first, but figured it might have something to do with all of my other chicks being dual-purpose breeds and she's really more of a laying breed... I have no idea, but it sounds like its not uncommon for them to be on the smaller side?
I'm not sure if this photo is really great for showing scale....
