Crested pekin bleeding

No rips in the fencing that I've found, but we'll keep checking for them. I believe he's the only drake in my flock. My other 3 big ones are all girls, and i *think* my 3 khaki campbells are female as well. They're about 9/10weeks now, would a male have the dark head by now? They're just starting to find their quacks.

I took a few more pictures just now. I think the line on his beak may have been hay/ grass? I didn't see anything unusual. And my blue swede was eating some red chard, i think she was gnawing on a rib. It does look like blood in that picture though.

Lastly, how does one go about cleaning a duck's head? He's just recently gotten an attitude ("charging" me and lowering his head when i'm in the pen) so he's going to be very unhappy camper. We've trimmed the lady pekin's crest a couple times so i think he's pretty wary lol.

A nice swim may get him to clean his own head then you can get a look. But you cannot let your ducks dictate to you whether they can be looked at or examined you need to get a good look and possibly treat. Wrap him in a towel so you keep his wings down and look at him. Only time I pick mine up is when something looks off.

What can cause brain damage having your crest attacked or just being created in general?
I couldve sworm it was info i stole from you, A few have seid that ducks with crests can be brain damaged from being bred

Iam touched in the head tho

No you are not I was kidding with you. ;) Crested can def be injured if female and mated since drakes like to grab onto head feathers. They can also have neurological problems from just being crested too.
