Cricket

^^^ Haha! Oh geez. Well, in that case --->

Here's to wishful thinking/hoping lol!

So, my little baby is growing up FAST! At 2 weeks old, Cricket is definitely becoming his/her own bird and developing quite an independent attitude. He/she no longer likes to be held and cuddled, but will tolerate handling if you allow him/her to perch on your hand/arm. Bernie on the other hand is a bit more relaxed - seems to love snuggling up against my leg and willingly jumps up on my hand. Of course Cricket still expresses some concern if I wander too far away from them - sounding the alarm with a god-awful scream, and both still come darting at me when they get startled.

I just find it so funny - how the chicks seemed to switch personalities. Cricket started off being so needy and overly-attached and Bernie started off timid and flighty. now Crick is the hyper-active explorer with a tough-'guy' attitude and Bern is the gentle, go with the flow, content one.

They are wonderful! Bernie's actual owners come home late tonight from out of town, so when I see them, I'm going to ask if Bernie can stay. A while ago they said something about selling/giving a few chicks away because they weren't expecting such a successful hatch. so who knows, maybe I can snag a few more ;)

Anyways the duo - Cricket @ 2 weeks:

^^^Crick going over to inspect my dad

^^^ I walked away (to try and get a better camera angle). Look at those feathers!

^^^PANIC! - "MOM! MOM! MOM!"

^^^ Bernie is quite intrigued by the camera

^^^ ...very intrigued...

^^^ Cricket on the other hand... curious, but more so unsure

^^^ I apparently got waaaay tooo faaaar away...

My boyfriend, who is currently deployed overseas, saw ^^^ this picture and thinks I have hatched a little velociraptor - "teeth and all!" LOL. He says he wants to use 'Cricket' as his radio call name, because "that is one badass bird you shouldn't mess with." And of course he had to throw in how cute Crick is which just proves that they are so much a like in that aspect too. *cough cough* He wishes...

Well, it seems that the older Cricket becomes, the more Polish features start to appear... He/She may not end up crested, but there is a bit of a doo-dad there, lol. Also, look at that comb... I think i figured out who the biological mommy is, Lady Gaga:

"Devil horn" combs - ???

^^^ After a few hours outside, the two were so tuckered out, they both immediately fell asleep as soon as I put them back in the brooder
