My friend and I just got a shipment of chicks. She commented that she fed them crickets and they love them. Is this okay? Are they too young, just a few days old?

They will be fine. My broody takes her babies out bug hunting at 2 - 3 days old and I have personally seen them tear into big ol cricketts, worms, grasshoppers, and termites...they love it

Well, we tried it, and BOY what a show. It was so funny. One would grab the cricket and run, and another would steal it!! They did not rest until the crickets were torn to shreads.

Great photo! Looks like a chicken board of directors meeting. I think they're going to vote to eat that bug, what do you think?

I let my chickens go outside at one week old and they ate all kind of bugs! I would wait until they are a little bit older than a day old to feed them treats. But that's just my opinion. I only raised chicks once.

Hen raised chicks will eat anything the hen gives them so I'd imagine it would be okay for them to eat a few crickets! But I would wait a little bit still.
