then it sounds likea bonk wound from the male not a fighting wound. Poor booger they are such a skiddish bird so it's no suprise really. He shold be fine with time. If you have pictures that'd be great. Off of the discription though it sounds like youhave a hen (bigger one all the same color) and the roo with the booboo withthe bib. However bibs dont always mean roo...and also not all colors are the vent feathers rust colored on males like blue faced etc. However this sounds like a wild colored pair to me i fi had to guess off of this discritpion lol!

Is the big one brown with blackbarring and tanish areas? Is the smaller one blue, rust colored with black baring and a nicely defined bib with bold black around it? If so sounds like a wild pair

no, they are both this solid very light blue color, with some white ticking, I think i saw the rust colored vent featheres on the smaller one, going out to get pics now.

The lighter colored males tend to have a pinkish color on the vent feathers. Any male other then white and some splash will have a red rust to pink color on their vent feathers. That is the best way to sex buttons. There are some female colors that have bibs and there are males that have female coloring
Have fun with your new birds

dont forget bluefaces the males dont always have any vent colors. Believe me on that lol. Some do but many don't. Some are completley solid from head to toe.

Also my silver male had no vent color, but his breast had a yellow tint to it.

LOL that is right with some blue face isn't there another rule that only boys have blue?
I have never seen a silver with out pink vents very interesting I will have to add that to my bank of things to remember!
I can't wait to see the pictures.

Lol. I think I give up on button colors and sexing. If they're a neat color, hurah, if not, well, then so be it, lol. The little things have made my mind go in such a twirl and made my eyes go cross. It's so much less stressful if I just enjoy them and forget about trying to figure out colors, lol.

Im obsessed with the solid blue faces so that's the only reason I *remember* that one very well! LOL! I'll have to rumage up a pic of my silver boy i had and show ya what im talkin about...however I dont think you can even see the yellow tinting in the pictures (on his breast).

buttons are fun to look at though! I think my seramas are going to throw me for a loop to as I've read they don't come out expected colors either, but they're cute so they'll just be my pets not my genetic goals and that should make me not so cross eyed lol!
