i have a Muscovy duckling that has what I think is called club feet. It’s legs are folded in at the joint and it’s webbed feet are closed. It cannot use them at all. It uses the joint above its foot to walk, the joint will not go the way it’s suppossed to allowing a shoe to fix the problem. I have tried vitamins, took to vet. They said most farmers would cull. But I cannot do this. Has anyone had a duckling like this? I will try to post a pic for more understanding. I want to help him/get but not sure how I can. It will get eaten if left outside..

Was it hatched like that or did it develop that way? How old is it now?

Sorry to say... but the suggestion by the vet would IMO be the kindest thing to do for this duckling... Euthanasia by the vet could be an option if culling is not.

One thing I can promise you... things like this get worse (and painful) with age and weight... I learned that the hard way with chicks! :(

Sorry you face this. :hugs

very very sad does he even try to walk? Also we had a chick that had a foot kinda like that and we did streches with it and her foot turned out okay so maybe try stretching it and see if progress can be made

You could make a sling for your duckling to sit in once I get to my computer I can show pic or you can google. Not much can probably be done for it other than being a house duck. Are you okay with that? I know the consensus is to humanely put the duckling down that can only be your decision. I do know I have seen other who have disabled duckling , geese and have kept them inside. I believe a few may have pics they can share with you on making a sling for your duckling hopefully they will share.

Yes I’d love that!!

Thank you all for your responses!! The duckling is almost a month old- on the 17th. I was hoping it would correct itself. The duckling does walk- on its knuckles. But not well it hobbles. She or he is so sweet, I cannot bring myself to cull. If anyone has a mobility cart for chickens they are selling please let me know - I’m willing to try! Thank you all so much!
