I have recently purchased chicks of several breeds with the goal of breeding correct examples of each breed, for egg layers and probably chick sales but not showing. I have four lavender Orpington cockerels to sort through. Here are photos of two. The left hand male has clearer color; the right hand male has some barring especially on his neck. The middle photo the clear male is in back, the barred male on the right. Can you please critique them? Give it to me straight - I can take it! They are American Orpingtons from the Hink-JC line. Have you seen a copy of the SOP (standard of perfection)?
That may be available for Orpingtons online.
That will tell you more than what one can see from pictures.
The SOP gives you every characteristic to select for.

I can share the SOP with you for Orpingtons.

But if we're going by body shape here, the male with the inconsistent hackle color is best.

I advise prioritizing body shape.

Thank you both. No I haven't seen the SOP, it is something that must be ordered from APA for Orpingtons, since I didn't plan to show I wasn't sure if that made sense to me to spend the big bucks. I would love a copy of the SOP, Cyprus, if you are willing to share.
