Critique on my Black Copper Marans babies.

not breeding them is what I also thought when I got them. I still bought them to bring them Home. I know they are happy with all the acreage that get to range on. Oh and those Roos are huge. You should see them next to my California white cross girls. They are a year old. Ya those Donkeys are starting to wear out their welcome with their escape antics.

Lol I might not want to bring that up to my youngest son. He is a little entrepreneur and is all about making money. Lol.

It was probably the lighting that made them look yellow. I had mine under a white light to try and get more of their natural color.

I looked up littlepeddler because they are here local. But I seen the price of her eggs and about had a heart attack. I’m surprised the one you had was a rooster. I’ve read so many articles how the cold can kill off the male embryos

*Goes back and does the research*

Oh wow he is big.

And yeah, little Peddlers is high. She has a waiting list, too. Want to know something else? That roo was killed by my brothers beagles a year later. I only barely got some of his offspring hatched.

Well, it all depends on who you breed it with. I don't have much experience tail breeding of course, so I can't tell you more. D'Anvers have extreme tails and Buckeyes, well, I've had luck. For me I need to breed out the cushions though.
This is actually my uglier rooster but the only good picture of my black Jackson does not show his true type. Also his comb was bitten off. It's not a pea comb, if you have looked at the attached file. View attachment 1728267
Oooohhhh. Those are pretty.

I just
Heh. I mean I was really mad, but then again I knew something like that was going to happen the moment the boys mentioned getting hunting puppies.
I don't get upset unless Im the one doing the killing.
I just hate to hear that. I have a shepherd that I have to make sure to keep away from the chickens. Those California white girls are crazy. If they cannot make it back to the coop they fly into the dogs run ( that was originally the area I used to get them ready to go outside) and roost in a large bush that’s in there.

They have no fear of her. I know she would kill them if given the opportunity. My rotti is iffy on it. He’s an old man but I think he just wants to play with them. My three collies are fantastic around them. Well the 8 month one loves to herd the roosters. But my momma collie does great with them. When they travel to the neighbors I send her out to herd them back to the field. And then she loves to baby the chicks like they are her puppies. Her and her black sex links.

Perhaps. How many more roosters can you take, though?
If they are sop they will be cooped with sop girls. If not sop I’m always down to taking in babies that need homes as long as they can get along with the others. I was a little worried at first. I was trying to keep the Roos cooped and in a run the field and the donkeys knocked their security down so they could escape. They don’t like their friends penned up. Needless to say that night my girls slept in a pine tree over 100 feet off of the ground. I was worried they wouldn’t get along. The next day they were all buddies.
