Critter Hill Coop DONE! (many PICs)

Thanks, we HAD to be this crazy about predator proofing around here though. We have every type of vermin you can imagine.

Nesting hawks in the neighbor's yard, resident raccoons, skunks, the occasional coyote, a whole family of foxes, not to mention the pack of fox hounds that come tearing through our yard in full cry periodically. Oh, and big, fat raccoon families so tame they wander around in broad daylight digging through people's trash.

Several of our neighbors have said "Chickens? Oh yeah, we had them for a while, but eventually they all got picked off by something."

We are trying to learn from everyone else's mistakes. I hope it is good enough.

I am so jealous

I can't even get my husband to put a roof of any type on the scratch yard he built. I'm so scared for my baby chicken!!!!!

We are very poor and want the chickens to provide eggs for us that we can eat, but I adore my little baby frizzle chicken and don't want to see him die. It makes me want to do this ->

Great looking coop!! One question. How are they doing getting up to their roost? Are the spacing of the ladder rungs a problem for them?

The roost ladder is working great. Every evening I go out and they are all up on the roosts, every morning, they are scratching at the door wanting to go out. I don't generally see them in the process of climbing up or going down (I suspect they fly down), but the end result seems to be working.
