1 Box Devil’s food cake
1 box chocolate instant pudding
16 oz. sour cream
¾ cup oil
1 cup water
4 eggs

Beat 3 minutes on medium speed. Add 6 oz. chocolate chips. Pour into crock pot and cook on low for 4 hours.

You can substitute fat free or low fat sour cream and sugar free pudding

That's good to know, I think I would have been trying to figure out inventive ways to get it out and ended up with a large pile on a plate, lol!

I serve it straight from the crock pot with ice cream. It will keep warm and moist for hours!

They make a baking insert for the crock pot. Stuff doesn't really brown in it, but it works otherwise. Remember, you have to put a towel over it before you put the lid on. This wicks the moisture out of the pot and lets it bake rather than boil.

The insert is expensive, but I have found that a large metal coffee can works as well. Be sure and grease and flower it first. It make a strange round loaf of bread, but it is good.

OMG - this is almost more dangerous than the 3-minute Chocolate Cake recipe

Could you just line the crockpot with foil & then dump the cake onto a plate?

IDK- the beauty of it is this- the crock pot on low keeps it warm and goey for hours. If you take it out, it will get cold and oh how you want that lava goo to be warm!!!! I am going to use this for Easter- that way the family can snack on it at will

So....you just mix all the ingredients together and throw it in the crock pot? No layering? And the gooey goodness automatically separates out to the bottom? I have an espresso cake recipe that seems similarly unlikely, except you have to put the espresso/syrupy part on top of the cake and as it bakes it magically makes it's way to the bottom of the pan. I may have to try this once I get over my mild aversion to sweets (yay hormones!)
