I'm glad that they are doing good! Oh no...They are doing mostly good and getting very fat despite the cold! There's been a few incidents though.
I hope he ends up fine and that the other quail don't pick on his bloodiness if he has any!One managed to hurt his wing, when I was holding him (flapped too hard?). He must've torn something, because it was bleeding EVERYWHERE. I felt sooo bad and tried to patch him up, but couldn't find the wound. The funny thing is, the moment I put him back into the quail run he started looking for food and didn't seem stressed at all. I'm not sure whether they are just hardy or impervious to pain.
Phew, I'm glad that you found him when you did. That's good that he's doing better now! I hope he gets better.Mr Kinkneck has been inside for a week, he was doing very well for himself up until one morning last week when I found him toppled over and stuck in the feed bowl. Thought he was dead, but nope, just a very hungry head attached to a very stiff body. He was all poopy and gross, so I gave him a little bath and fed the hungry head. With a bit of massaging, he managed to move a little more of his body and eventually was able to preen himself as well. I'm not really sure what caused it, it was almost like he had a stroke...?
He just started to be able to stand on his own again a couple of days ago, but still needs assistance eating. Hopefully he gets better, but even then, I don't think he will ever be a good outside quail.
Reading your response, I suddenly realize that it seems like a lot of drama, haha!I'm glad that they are doing good! Oh no...

Hatching season is over for me (even though Paint doesnt think so and is broody againReally?! Like your planning to hatch out more? And yes, I can believe it. Honestly, I kinda want some quail now... But I don't think we'll be able to get some until I'm older possibly.
I have a broody bantam wyandotte right now even though it's getting to be cold outside. She is not being broken any time though!Hatching season is over for me (even though Paint doesnt think so and is broody again) It’s a shame, since she lays a good number of eggs when she’s not.
Yay!! Rememebr to send pics of them when you get them!I’m going to pick up a breeding pair of buttons, likely next week.
Ooh, can't wait!My friend will give me goose eggs when her geese starts laying again, so that will probably be my next venture!

Not yet! but I have more celadons in the pot. I don’t know why... it was an impulse buy... set 15 eggs this time, but since they spent 4 days in transit (idk why the seller shipped on a thursday) in freezing cold weather, I’m not too sure any would hatch at all, lol.Have you got some buttons yet? x
