As for walking barefoot, absolutely not. Barefoot outside? In a chicken pen? I’d watch them starve through the kitchen window before I walked out there barefoot.
So having crocs that conveniently and easily slip on is a good thing. :)

Plus they easily wash off of they get covered in mud. Can't say the same for sneaks.

See, but it's better then getting sand in your socks and sneakers... because you can just shake it out easy peasy. You don't even have to take the shoe off.
I’m not a child? So I don’t get sand in my sock or shoes. I wear appropriate footwear for the task at hand.
I cannot wear sneakers, I don't like the sensation of toes being confined and squished together.
Which as you have autism makes sense in the sense that it’s something you fixate on.

For me crocs are like clogs and I have issues walking in them with out loosing them every few steps.

So my footwear is:
Tennis Shoes x days of the week for work because of planters phasidiis and being on my feet over 10hrs a day.(I work at Lowes.)

3 different waterproof boots. Shin high, right above ankle and right below ankle.

2 flip flops one or outside and coop when its dry and I wont slip an fall on my azz and one nice pair for shopping.

Sometimes I'll wear tennis shoes for shopping.

Your toe joints are getting raw. Some kayak friends thought they would be a great water shoe until the first step out of the kayak, shed them and bare foot the rest of the day, although I will concede any foot wear on a sandy stream bed will suck sand like a Hoover even a flip flop. But wait there's more! They really look nice in the in the grocery store with plaid pajama bottoms. :celebrate

I have never heard of them, but now I have seen some photos of them I know what you are talking about.
I had something like that many years ago, when I was pretty small, for walking on the rocks down at our river.
And they didn't work for that! All the rocks and pebbles just found their way in though the holes, and was even more uncomfortable then bare feet.

My foot wear is;
A pair of work boots for around the property
A newer pair of work boots for wearing to town
A pair of riding boots of the lace up kind, just good dule purpose ones
And wellington boots for when it rains, or the river is up in winter.
