I have big, wide feet. I admit it. They run in my family (run - get it? ).

Big feet are great for hiking (stability) and swimming (strong kicks) but it's virtually impossible to find women's shoes that fit me. I saw what happened to my grandmother's feet after she spent a lifetime trying to cram them into women's shoes. I default to wearing men's athletic shoes much of the time.

Crocs (used to call them Waldies) are one of the few shoes that are actually comfortable for me. It must be what it feels like to wear shoes for the rest of you! They're perfect for the coop, gardening, hotel rooms, and for puttering around the house. I change into other shoes when I leave the house, though.

I wear slides for things like beaches, pools, and gym showers.
