Crook Neck!?!

I have been incubating 8 Chicken eggs. One didn’t make it because it tried to hatch at day 19 and wasn’t ready, but the rest waited full term. So far I have 4 babies!
My only problem is my most recent seems to have crook neck
What do I do?!?

It’s still soaking wet because it can’t clean itself. I dabbed it off with a paper towel but it really didn’t seem to help.

I read a vitamin deficiency could be the problem. I am going to Tractor Supply in just a moment to get chick food. Is there anything I can get (vitamins?) for this poor baby. It’s breaking my heart Please please tell me I don’t need to cull it

Possibly hatched with yolk so put in a Margarine container till it finds it legs and don't give it anything by beak till it's up and in the Brooder.

Poultry nutri drench is preferred... it has amino acids in addition to the vitamins and minerals.

I hatched my first star gazer, and usually cull. But tried the PND since it isn't a breed I am keeping and it worked... that time!

Yes, I’m pretty sure it’s crook neck. It seems to have absorbed fine but just can’t keep its head up. I did tuck it into a cup so it’s not struggling so hard though. Thanks

This little lady was called Penguin as she hatched with an S bend in her neck which caused her to have the stance of a penguin. She also had spraddle leg. With daily Nutridrops and me gently massaging and manipulating her neck as well as a manacle and boot, she was indistinguishable from her healthy siblings within ten days. It's always worth a try

Wow I'd Cull something if suffering. I live for the living and sadly I let's some go.

Oh I'll cull if I think they are actually in pain but she was quite content...no chirping, trying to eat if you held it up to her beak, walking around, if somewhat awkwardly. She definitely had the will to live so I gave her every chance and as I saw daily improvement, was willing to put in the effort. At no point did I believe she was suffering unduly and as she went on to live a long and happy life, as happy and as tame as a pup, I think I made the right decision....but I absolutely agree that culling is sometimes the best answer.

Yes, if she begins to suffer I will absolutely make the difficult decision to cull.... but right now she seems very content. Cheeping happily, she just doesn’t sit right. I’m willing to try the drops and see if she improves.

Oh, incidentally, Penguin was also hatched with egg goop on her, hence why she isn't fluffed up in the pic. Shortly after that pic was taken, I gave her a very gentle warm bath, using q tips to get the goop off and then popped her in an incubator on her own (well, with a cuddly toy actually) so she could dry out. She then fluffed up properly and was much happier. Are you sure your little one is not also gooped up, hence the appearance of wetness and an inability to dry out?
