My 6 month old hen with a crooked beak is very lethargic and not eating much. Partly cause she has a hard time because of the crooked beak, but also she had a bunch of poop stuck near her vent, it looks like diarrhea. I cleaned that off and wonder if I should be worried. Does anyone know a good feed for a crooked beak? I have been giving her oatmeal which was fine, but now her beak has gotten more crooked and she has a hard time eating that.

If all she's been eating is oat meal, that may be causing the diarrhea. Ideally, just get her regular feed into her however you think is best. That way she has the stuff she needs to grow and be able to be healthy enough to resist getting sick and maintain a balance with the parasites naturally found in the environment.

Sounds like a pet, but do what you think is best for her in the long run.

She is kinda a pet. I also feed her worms which she seems to have an easier time eating. I wonder if she could be a bit stressed because I have been confining her to her pen more lately. We have had a couple of deaths by what I think was a weasel and a fox so I don't let her free range unless I am around. Maybe I should just take my chances and let her out.

we have a crooked beak also. she eats the layers mash and I let her jump into the feed barrel. We mix all grain and layers mash for our girls. she seems to have an easier time getting food in that way. under her feathers she is all bones. She is not a year old yet and I am not sure if she will make it through the winter.

I also have a pullet with a crooked beak, about the same age. I also feed her layer mash and I add the vitamins you give to babies in her water. She is kept in a dog cage in the coop with the big boys ang girls, this is where I keep her food in a deep bowl. That way I can keep track of what and how much she eats. She also love scrambled eggs. Good luck, I hope she'll be okay!!
