My 2 week old Brown Leghorn hen x barred rock rooster mix has developed a crook in her neck. I don't think it's wry neck because she moves around fine, she eats, drinks, poops, crop empties and fills normally. She's had all her vitamins since birth. She shouldn't hve been injured bit it's possible. She's very sweet and will snuggle up to my cheeks. She's also not a pushover with her older brother who is brooding with her. I just noticed it 2 days ago. I can hold her head to the other side (opposite crop side) and as soon as I let it go it pops back to the other side and the bone in her neck is protruding. I've looked everywhere and anything mentioning a chicks neck is a crop issue or wry neck. Any thoughts?

She wasn't born this way.

I feel so sad for her. I had received one from a hatchery that started to twist it's neck from left to right the first day I received it. I contacted the hatchery and they said it did not know the cause. It died that night. i was very upset. Do not know the cause. The other three in the shipment are fine.

That is so sad. Omni is still very alert and active. Flapping her wings, pecking the other bird, eating alot, drinking. Her eyes are alert. I don't get it...im so close to creating a brace for her neck if it doesn't resolve itself in the next couple of days.

Unfortunately, I have no answers. Hopefully, someone on this site can help your. But sometimes no matter how hard you try, nature takes its course. I know you want the best outcome and that is all that matters! I am sure you are doing your best as you have reached out to one of the best sites for advice for chicken issues.

Yes, and thank you. This is the first time that I've dealt with something like this but, I hatched her myself and the one I hatched before her was a preemie. I just hope it's not in the genetics of my roosters.
