Crooked toes on newly hatched chick.

One of my newly hatched babies has crooked toes, and isn't able to straiten them out like my others have.
We know how to correct them with the bandaid boot, but not sure when to do it.
Should we try to do it later today?
Or should we wait and see if she can straighten them on her own?

The sooner the better. Wait too long, and you will have to cull it.

Ours hatched Friday or Saturday morning, now it is Sunday late morning, is it too late to do anything? I just noticed the crook feet on one.

We put band-aids on his toes, but he could not walk, we put another one as for spraddled legs, but it did not help and we thought it made it worse for him, so we cut that top one (could not remove completely because it stuck to his feathers). He can't really walk and we don't think he'll make it.

My little guy is doing great, and walking around normally now.
Not going to take it off its foot though until maybe thursday though... then they are all going to their new home.
I know they will live very spoiled lives there

I had to snowshoe one of my little bantam cochins last year. Only one foot had curled toes, but I ended up putting the shoes on both feet - it stabilized his walking better. He still had trouble drinking from the feeder because the shoes were so big he couldn't get close to the trough on the waterer. I did a lot of hand feeding and watering the first couple of days. But he was SO SMART!! By the third day, I found him 'siding' over to the water to drink, rather than approaching it straight on. By day 5, he had kicked the shoes off on his own, and was just perfect!

That chick I mentioned has left for chick heaven. He was weak and could not stand - so his feet was not the main reason...
