Thank you for your continued help and support! It has been soooooo helpful!!! I found out I can get goat wormer at the local feed store. They were so unhelpful when I asked for chicken wormer the other day. It will be open tomorrow. What is the right dose she barely weighs a pound if that? I probably should work the rest of them even if they don’t show any symptoms or distress right? Any ideas on how to worm a very beautiful but non touchable rooster??
I’m noticing them chewing feathers a lot, I also see whiteish in the cracks of their combs I think.
Dosing for Safeguard is back on
POST#17. Feed stores are generally not that helpful unfortunately. Glad you were able to find the meds.
Those look like Lice nits. I would treat her and your other 2 for lice/mites, she may be the only one that has them since she's unwell, but the bugs can go from bird to bird and live in coop/housing too. You can find Permethrin based poultry spray or dust at stores like
TSC. For the birds, I like to dust them, for housing/coops, I like to spray. You can find concentrate to make spray which is more economical. If you wish, you can spray the birds too, I just like dust since I feel like I can apply it better. I put the dust in a sock, then tap that onto the bird working the dust down into the feathers to the skin. Repeat treatment with the Permethrin in 7 day intervals to kill off those that hatch out. Those qtip looking things at the base of the feathers are lice eggs.
For the rooster, he's a Big Beauty!

Wait until dark when he's roosting, then go get him. If you need to, drape a towel over him and swaddle him up, capturing his wings. He's going to scream bloody murder! He may even nip you, wear long sleeves. If you have a helper, that's even better. Dust him too, I would focus around the tail, under the vent/wings for him. He looks to be in very good condition, but bugs like those feathered areas that are warm and where they can hide. You would grab him the same way for deworming. He may not need deworming but if you are dosing the Gals, then why not him too.
