Yesterday I discovered one of my young birds had a swollen crop, was puffy, and lethargic. The crop was soft, so I figured sour crop. I haven't dealt with this crop issue before, but I've read up on it. I vomited her and lots of brown gunk and some grass bits came out. When I was massaging the crop, I could feel a lot of what feels like sand in it. It feels like an excessive amount to me, maybe a fourth a cup. So I brought her inside, gave her apple cider vinegar water and grit. Her crop has gone down some and she's more active. It's still swollen though, I still feel the sand (plus grit now), and it seems it might be a little droopy. I'm wondering if now she has pendulous crop along with the sour crop. Anything more I can do for her besides stick with the water and a bit of yogurt for another day? What's up with the sand? I've never felt that in a crop before.
