PMed you. You can get stuff at tractor supply or use what you can at home. If you have a craft knife(X-acto knife) you can use that like you would a scalpel. You need to heat it to kill bacteria. Then you need some q-tips, then a needle & some sort of thread or thin fishing line.Heat needle under flame. Dip thread and needle in Alcohol. Let me see if I can draw something up.... back in a min.

ok, I guess I'll wait till morning to see everyones opinions and then make a decision from there. I am so mixed and confused and scared out of my mind right now I can't make a rational decision. I'm scared to walk the mothball up and out. I'm scared to perform surgery. I'm just scared!

I have an OLD book on chicken keeping that says it only takes a razor blade and a very small opening. The crop it just under the skin. THen press the stuff out slowly and gently just like when you used to pop a zit. Sorry best description I could think of. THey say it barely bleeds and no suture is neccesary. Just antibiotic oint. Oh I forgot it says to shave in a downward motion the area of feathers where the incision will be with a razor you would shave with. The other razor would be like a box cutting razor. Don't be afraid. Get someone to hold her wrapped in a towel. You can do it you are saving her life. I will be waiting to see how good you did.

I think the surgery would be much much less stressfull on both you and the bird. I really do not see getting it out the way it came in having a good ending.

Get a good friend to be with you and just get it done. YOU can DO it!

This is the best I can do on short notice. No, you don't put her under. their is nothing safe to do that with. If you wrap her in a towel she should be fine. My roo just layed their. Their is very little blood, maybe a drop or two if anything. You are just basically opening the sack and scooping out the contents, then stitching up your hole. Also use a syringe or something to flush out the crop once cleaned of the mothball.

How is she this morning? Did you try the crop surgery?
I have been following this thread but haven't commented because I had no helpful advice. You've been in my thoughts!

it is morning and I only got a couple hours of sleep and my DH is getting ready to go. I'm going to have to find someone to help me. I'm going to try and send some PM's again today and see if someone can help me with this.

I am wondering if you could just glue it, think it would be easier and less traumatic? maybe it would be a bad idea that close to the crop?
