Hi everyone, my small black chick has a crossed beak. Will this hinder her in any way? How can I help her? I'm pretty sure it's a female if that means anything. It's raining here so she's a bit wet in pics, she is with her mother

Can I fix it in any way or is it a permanent condition?
No, you can't fix it. You can trim it down but that's it. I just had a blue Ameruacana die a couple weeks back, she had cross beak. She made it 5.5 months; one day she was fine, next day she was limping and weak, the following day she died. IDK exactly what she died of.

But we fed her mash and it went great. She was the only cross beak we've ever had. I've read about "torpedo feeding" and it looks like it works....however it was not practical for us, cause you only have so much time in the day and that takes time.

Our pullet had a real serious cross beak...as bad as any I found on the internet. Your doesn't look as bad as ours did-and that's a good thing. You may be able to feed her mash and she'll grow old and sit out in the rocking chair by ya one day. 🖖
