Cross Breading

You'll get dark egg laying mixed breeds.

But if you're asking specifically what they'll look like, from my understanding, they'll look very much like the Marans side of their heritage. The Welsummer's wildtype pattern is recessive to the birchen pattern of the Black Copper Marans. You'll probably also see light foot feathering on the chicks, depending on how well the Marans' feet are feathered.

I have a Copper Marans rooster and Wellsomer hens. What kind of chicks will I get?
Welcome to BYC! :frow

Some good answers so far! :thumbsup

I'll add that they could be known as barnyard cross (heritage) "chocolate eggers". :pop

ETA: breading is fine.. you get tasty chicken, lol! :p
